How It Works
The Student Journey
1. Introduction & Engagement
Cases developed with local partners in Nairobi are integrated into DTU’s innovation course Innovation Pilot. Students work in teams over 13 weeks, supported by mentors from Kenya and Denmark.
2. Field Experience & Co-Creation
A selected group of DTU students and entrepreneurs travel to Nairobi to collaborate with students from the University of Nairobi and local communities. Activities include workshops, interviews, field research, community engagement, co-creation and test sessions.
Participation cost: Field trip participants contribute 3,000 DKK. We encourage participants to apply for travel grants to cover the travel costs.
3. Innovation & Scaling
Insights and data from the field are brought back into larger innovation formats such as the hackathon OpenInnovation, engaging students across DTU, KU and CBS.
Promising solutions can continue in DTU Skylab’s innovation ecosystem or through implementation with local partners in Kenya.
